2023-24 TEAM TRYOUTS

Academy Volleyball Cleveland will have club teams for players in 3rd through 12th grade. Please read the information below to learn more about our program and how to join.

AVC’s mission is to develop and promote the sport of volleyball. We thrive on making it fun as athletes are introduced to the game of volleyball, while pushing them to be the best of the best by the time they graduate high school. We have a wide range of divisions from beginners to National talent.

To join a team, follow the steps below:

  1. Determine which age group your daughter qualifies for (info below)
  2. Attend our open gyms and pre-tryout clinics
  3. Get to know AVC
  4. Learn about the types of teams we offer (visit teams and coaches pages)
  5. Register for and attend July tryouts (registration opens June 1st)

1. DETERMINE AGE GROUP

Age definitions are set by the USAV and the OVR (governing bodies). Some athletes may qualify for two different age groups, depending on their DOB and grade.

Example: A player was born on July 1, 2009, but is in the 7th grade. She qualifies to play on the 14’s National, American and Regional division teams (because of her DOB), as well as the 13’s Regional division teams (because of her grade).

Click here for detailed information on age divisions https://www.ovr.org/juniors/divisions.php

2. Open Gyms & Clinics

We will be hosting a variety of pre-tryout camps, open gyms, and pre-tryout individual lessons and group lessons. Head to our camps and clinics page to see the schedule or email camps@avcvolleyball.com. See contact info below for pre-tryout lessons.

3. GET TO KNOW US

Before trying out for a club team, we suggest attending a camp or clinic to make sure your daughter enjoys playing with AVC! Please come by and visit us, all open gyms and clinics are open to anyone and everyone of eligible age!

Social Media – We are active on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. We have plenty of content for you to see, and we utilize these platforms for announcements!

4. TYPES OF CLUB TEAMS

AVC offers three divisions/levels of teams:

  1. National
  2. American
  3. Regional

“National” division teams require the most commitment. These teams (Red, White & Blue) are designed for athletes who want to play volleyball at the highest level. Our top National teams will compete in the Open & National divisions in tournaments where the competition is the most rigorous. These teams will play in tournaments that require out-of-state travel, some of which require flights.

“American” division teams are a lower level of commitment compared to National teams. These teams are great for athletes looking to play competitively. This division is to showcase regionally strong teams that may travel out of state.

“Regional” division teams require the least commitment. They are a great fit for athletes who are newer to the sport or prefer less travel.

Note: During the tryout registration process you can select which division(s) you are interested in. If you only want to play on a regional division team, you can specify that, and your daughter will only be placed on a regional team at tryouts.

NEW 2023-24: Gold National Teams

Gold definition:

AVC would like to announce a fourth National team to its lineup. We currently offer Red, White and Blue and we couldn’t be more excited to announce Gold will be coming in the “23/24” season. AVC feels that the talent level and coaching have pushed us into a class of its own. Considering the success and competitive nature of the current American 1 players and staff, it can only make sense.

Gold and Blue teams will combine in training and tournament schedules just like our current Red/White teams to form a great gym culture and competitive environment AVC has made its trademark for several years now. Gold will play a similar tournament schedule to our current Blue program and train 4 days a week. Those four days will now include a positional, competition, tier training, as well as an individual team practice. Blue teams will now have a training partner, a competition partner, and we will now be adding coaches for all of those programs to participate in.

We would like to thank the dedicated professionals, staff members, volunteers, and most of all the players for making it possible to create another tier of national programming. Without those involved it just couldn’t work. Thank you AVC Nation!

Tuition price range

Regional (10s and 11s included): $1,200-$1,800

American: $2,000-$2,200
