Casey Riedel worked at Kent State as their Women’s Volleyball assistant coach from 2017 to the beginning of 2022.  She worked primarily with the team’s ball control and floor defense while overseeing the team’s travel and recruiting efforts. Riedel coached the Golden Flashes to top-25 national rankings in digs per set each of her first three seasons. Under her guidance the Liberos at Kent State broke all-time digs and digs per set records at Kent State.

Her collegiate coaching career began at Pierce College (California) in 2007 where she served as an assistant coach for nine years and worked primarily as the program’s defensive coach, focusing on serve receive and defensive schemes. She helped guide the Brahmas to three consecutive state championships from 2011-13 and a state runner-up finish in 2015. 

She also served as an administrator and head coach for a variety of age groups with the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy since 2011. In her administrative role, Riedel was responsible for team and individual registrations, coordinating team travel and running tryouts. Additionally, she was an assistant for SMBC Boys Volleyball and helped the 17’s team to a bronze medal finish at Junior Nationals.

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Riedel was a four-year letterwinner at Cal Poly Pomona where she played as an outside hitter. She was a team captain and SAAC President during her senior year and served as the Publicity Director of SAAC for two years. Riedel earned a degree in behavioral science from Cal Poly Pomona in 2008.
